PADI Rescue Diver
Hope for the best, plan for the worst. You never know when an emergency will arise – the PADI Rescue Diver Course will equip you with the skills and knowledge to help out and potentially save lives in the event of an emergency.
PADI Discover Scuba Diving
If you would like to try diving in Tenerife without taking the full course to obtain a licence then you can take part in the one-day PADI Discover Scuba Diving program. This is also an ideal option for those thinking about taking the PADI Open Water course but unsure if it’s for them. The full amount paid for Discover Scuba will be offset against the price of the PADI Open Water course or the PADI Scuba Diver course if you decide to continue your training.
During this program a PADI Instructor will talk you through the basic principles of scuba diving and explain a few safety guidelines. They will also teach you a few basic exercises which you will practice in the water so that you are comfortable and confident using the equipment.
You will first enter the swimming pool or a sheltered bay to practice these skills and to get used to the sensations of breathing underwater and swimming with a SCUBA unit.
After building some confidence this way your instructor will take you for a boat dive to one of the many spectacular sites in the South of Tenerife. It is possible to see turtles, but these are wild animals and so sightings cannot be guaranteed.
You can find a more detailed description of this activity here, so you know exactly what to expect!

The PADI Open Water Diver Course
The world’s most popular diver training course
You will receive dive training in all of the basic knowledge and skills to safely dive to a depth of 18 metres, without the need for professional supervision.
The course typically takes 3 days to complete and will provide you with a licence to dive which is recognised worldwide and never expires.
Training is conducted in small classes of no more than 4 students. If there are more than 4 in the class, a second instructor will be allocated in order to keep the ratio small.
There is flexibility in how the course is organised but typically it goes like this:
Day 1 – A quick quiz to review your recollection of the online theory training, followed by Confined water training in the pool next to the dive centre or in a sheltered, shallow bay in the sea
Day 2 – Open Water dives 1 and 2 from the beach – usually Las Vistas beach in Los Cristianos
Day 3 – Open Water dives 3 and 4 from our boat
PADI Scuba diver: The PADI Scuba Diver certification is a sub-section of the PADI Open Water course.
Should your plans change and you are unable to complete the full Open Water course, you may be eligible to receive the PADI Scuba Diver certification, so you still get to walk away with a diving licence.

What comes next?
Upon completing the PADI Open Water diver course you can choose to either get out there and do some diving in Tenerife, or continue your training with the PADI Advanced Open Water Course.
PADI Advanced Open Water Course
This course builds on what you learned so far; qualifying you to dive to 30 metres whilst enhancing your practical diving skills and broadening your understanding of diving environments.
The PADI Advanced Open Water Courses course is comprised of 5 dives, typically completed over 2 days.
Each of the 5 dives focuses on a different ‘Specialty’ skill-set. It is necessary to complete a Deep dive and a Navigation dive, and then three others selected from a list of possible options.
Our recommendations for the three ‘elective’ dives are Peak Performance Buoyancy, diving with Nitrox and Wreck diving; but you are welcome to deviate from these if you wish.
There is a small amount fo theory to complete prior to the in-water activities. Training materials will be delivered digitally upon enrolling for the course. If you do not have access to a suitable device during your holiday then a hard copy can be provided instead.
There is no fixed schedule for when the courses are run, and a flexible plan can be arranged to fit with your plans.
Typically, each day begins at 09:00 and finishes at around 15.00/16:00.
PADI Adventure diver: The PADI Adventure Diver certification is a sub-section of the PADI Advanced Open Water course.
Should your plans change and you are unable to complete the full Advanced Open Water course, you may be eligible to receive the PADI Adventure Diver certification, so you still get to walk away with a diving licence.

What comes next?
Upon completing the PADI Advanced Open Water diver course you have several paths open to you for further training:
Each of the individual Adventure dives made during the Advanced Open Water Course count as the first dive from the corresponding PADI Specialty Course.
If you wish to complete any of these Specialties, you will not need to repeat the dives you have already made.
Alternatively as a PADI Advanced Open Water diver you can enroll in the PADI Rescue Diver Course.
PADI Rescue Diver Course
Rewarding and fun – that best describes the PADI Rescue Diver course. This course will expand your knowledge and experience level: Rescue Divers learn to look beyond themselves and consider the safety and well being of other divers.
The PADI Rescue diver course exposes you to a wide range of problems which can arise in or around the water. You will learn about some basic self-rescue skills which will help you to avoid being the centre of a rescue operation yourself, before going on to learn about how to handle diver emergencies.
How do you react when your buddy starts panicking?
How do you help someone struggling to stay afloat at the surface?
What should you do if you come across an unresponsive diver underwater?
During this course you’ll be trained how to recognise the early warning signs of potential emergency situations; and how to handle those which you are not able to prevent.
The practical part of the Rescue Diver course typically takes 2 days with practice and scenarios in the pool, from the shore and from the boat. The days start at 09.00 and typically finish around 15.00.
You must be at least 15 years old and certified as an Adventure Open Water diver (or equivalent) including UW navigation in order to enrol for this course.
Emergency First Response: It is a requirement for PADI Rescue Diver to have a current certificate in first aid which includes CPR. Therefore, most Rescue courses start with our Emergency First Response (EFR) course.
The EFR theory is completed online in the student’s own time and the practical session takes half a day from 09.00 to around 13;00.

What comes next?
PADI Rescue Divers who have completed at least 5 PADI Specialty Courses and made at least 50 logged dives are eligible to consider themselves a PADI Master Scuba Diver.
This is PADI’s highest accolade for recreational diving and demonstrates a thorough breadth of knowledge and experience.
We never stop learning, however, and so even PADI Master Scuba Divers have plenty of new adventures yet to discover.
